Classic Charm Wedding and Event Venue
South Shore: We have a fantastic new rustic event venue coming our way. Here’s the story. It’s a fun and inspiring one.
About A Wedding
Lisa’s daughter was getting married. (BTW: We’re sticking with first names only for now. Lisa and Bob are staying a bit incognito).
So, Lisa’s daughter was getting married and, naturally, Lisa got involved helping her daughter to coordinate all of the details. Lisa reached out to vendors and suppliers, all the time working and planning within her set budget. Well, after putting so much work into the planning Lisa, one day, thought, “I can do this, too.” And, she did.
Five months later, Lisa’s vision for a wedding and event venue was born and she and her husband, Bob, started looking for property.
Ruskin Is Perfect Location
Lisa and Bob were living in Clearwater when Lisa’s event venue idea took hold. “We just started driving around,” Lisa says. “We looked at properties in Tampa and Lutz, and eventually stumbled on the property we bought.” Last January 2016, Lisa and Bob took ownership of a large property in Ruskin, located on 10th Street.
The location is ideal. It’s centrally located between Tampa and Sarasota, has easy access to the interstate, and the South Shore area’s population is exploding (and will need an event venue).
Classic Charm Is Charming
Lisa loves a rustic sense of décor and felt it would translate well into a wedding and event venue. Working with an architect, Lisa came up with the idea to build a gray and white rustic barn to house the indoor event venue.
The surrounding property will have rambling walkways, gardens and a place to have a wedding or event under the stunning old oak trees that shade parts of the property.
Classic Charm – The Details
Building Status: The property is staked and the steel structure will be erected in December. Once the skeleton structure is in place the real magic happens – turning a steel structure into a rustic barn.
Grand Opening? The goal will be to hold a Grand Opening in May or June of 2017, but a final date cannot be set until the project has moved further along. Permitting takes time and can be somewhat unpredictable.
Classic Charm Features: The large interior reception hall is 24’ x 72’ and will include wood beams, chandeliers, and a separate bridal suite.
The barn is completely enclosed, with air conditioning, but will also have a massive covered porch overlooking the grounds. Ceremonies and events can be held indoors or outdoors.
When completed, the venue will hold 130 people (seated), or 200 with additional tents outside.
There is a full kitchen and separate space for caterers. People are free to bring their own caterers or Lisa will be offering various packages, including catering, bridal packages, etc..
Parking: There’ll be plenty!
Weddings Only? No, Classic Charm will be an ideal event venue for corporate events, wine tastings, family gatherings, big birthdays and more.
The Classic Charm Story
Not only will the final venue be charming, but Lisa and Bob’s story is inspirational. Both continue to work full-time jobs, but Lisa will transition full-time to the Classic Charm venue when it opens. It was a long road, but Lisa and Bob are all in.
“When looking for land,” Lisa says, “three banks turned us down. I was so disappointed. I was almost ready to give up, but then the fourth bank came through. After that I knew this was meant to be.” To make it really happen, Lisa and Bob sold everything they owned to get the property. They were then able to secure a construction loan quickly.
Today, Lisa and Bob live on the property in a camper. They commute to their day-jobs and oversee the project in their off hours. Lisa’s also using any free time she can find to learn more about running a business. She’s taking classes, attending webinars and working with SCORE Mentors – a program that pairs new business owners with experienced individuals who can help with different aspects of the business.
“I’ve been keeping a journal,” Lisa says, “to remind myself of the trials and tribulations, but everything is really coming together for us,” Lisa says.
So, welcome to South Shore Lisa and Bob! We’re thrilled to have you as new neighbors and looking forward to Classic Charm.
PS: The daughter’s wedding? Didn’t happen (a good thing), but the idea of it sure brought a big dream to life in South Shore.
